A Day In San Francisco: Video
A Day In San Francisco from Daniel Myers on Vimeo.
After a Revolve show in Sacramento, I spent an extra day with my friend Sean doing some sight-seeing in & around San Francisco. We only had one day but we got to see a lot of fun stuff around the city including Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge!
It’s Time To Take Off The Training Wheels
It's a beautiful day in Knoxville. I'm sitting on the screened deck behind my in-law's house in a large suburb of this college town. The football game is over, I have no idea who won, the girls decided to go shopping, and now everything is quite. Mattie (the dog)
is laying below my feet waiting for me to finish. I'm savoring these last few moments of stillness.
Tomorrow I fly to Columbus, OH for the start of The Revolve Tour, and the start of the whirlwind that will be the next few months. I'll be traveling for about 75% of the next month, and for about 50% of the months after that. During the few days I have at home we plan to close on a house, move, and hopefully start settling in. I remember in college how I thought that if I could just get to the end of the semester then everything would be OK, well I'm not in college anymore, and I'm starting to think that the pressures I experienced there were just the training wheels for the rest of my life. I already have something scheduled for every single weekend until the beginning of next year. God has been good to us, and it's wonderful that he's providing me work right now during a time when so many others are struggling, but now I'm going to need some grace and strength to pull through it.
Kind of like college, I think that when I look back in a few years I'll probably only remember the good parts, and I like it that way. Let the whirlwind begin!
Great “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” Cover
I've been following this local artist named Gavin Mikhail for maybe a year now, he's got some really incredible songs. He recently released this video of him covering the Death Cab for Cutie song "I Will Follow You Into the Dark," and it's definitely worth listening to. There's a pretty cool story behind it as well, from what I understand Gavin won some kind of competition that took him to Peter Gabriel's personal studios where he was able to record several original and cover songs (including this video). If you like the song I believe at can be purchased on iTunes or his website.
The Endless Cycle…
I know that history repeats itself, but this is crazy. Taken from the introduction to The Beloit College Mindset List for the Class of 2013:
"If the entering college class of 2013 had been more alert back in 1991 when most of them were born, they would now be experiencing a severe case of déjà vu. The headlines that year railed about government interventions, bailouts, bad loans, unemployment and greater regulation of the finance industry. The Tonight Show changed hosts for the first time in decades, and the nation asked “was Iraq worth a war?”

The list itself is an incredible read, for these students:
- The European Union has always existed.
- Smokers have never been promoted as an economic force that deserves respect.
- Most communities have always had a mega-church.
- For one reason or another, California’s future has always been in doubt.
It's amazing how fast time goes by and how quickly some things change, equally amazing is how some other things never change.

Time off is great
These past few weeks I've been trying to enjoy some much needed vacation time. Since I've been married (almost two months) I've been on the road way too much and the Fall is going to be just as busy, so I'm trying to make sure I use this time I have at home now be around as much as possible. However, since Laura has a real job it does leave me with a lot of free time during the day, which I have greatly enjoyed. I've gotten all sorts of productive stuff done and have had time to play around with all my little hobbies (such as this blog and a redesign of my website). I know that this time won't last forever (and I think that is a large part of why it is so enjoyable), but until I hit the road again next month for The Revolve Tour, I'm just enjoying life with my wife (hey that rhymed! maybe I should try my hand at some poetry...)
